Children from 3 to 6

Bilingualism from 3 years old

Montessori Private School - Valentine's Day presents itself as a bilingual structure for pupils from 3 to 6 years old.

It should be known that until 8 years old, bilingualism develops easily for children. In the early ages, referred to as the "sensitive period of language", the child learns new languages as he acquires his native language: by creating new connections in his brain.

Beyond the critical age of 8, it tends to reuse existing connections in its learning processes.

Experienced early enough, bilingualism is acquired perfectly by increasing the brain's potential and with it the child's abilities of adaptation, attention and inhibition.

Source of development

Various studies, including the Concordia University one in Canada, have shown, on one hand, greater brain plasticity in bilingual children (who, to designate the same meaning, can use two distinct languages) and on the other hand, a greater faculty of inhibition (consequence of the fact that the areas of cervical inhibition are activated to allow the expression of the desired language).

Early bilingualism stimulates the curiosity and openness of the child, who is put in the position of having to grasp reality in all its cultural complexity.

Choice of languages

Conscious of the growing importance of communication in a modern world opened to exchange of goods and people, our school offers teaching either in French nor English.

Appropriate pedagogy

According to of the Montessori Pedagogy, which respects the different stages of the child development and promotes their ability to learn for themselves, our pupils have a framework and conducive equipment for the acquisition of bilingualism.

They develop this faculty in total immersion, based on the areas of sensory experiences, reading, writing, mathematics, and practical life activities.
